Automatic function

Every automatic watch is initially a hand-wound watch by its basic construction. Through an additional construction, a highly effective reduction gear takes over the process of winding. This gear is set in motion by an oscillating weight (rotor), thus tensioning the mainspring. The watch is thus charged by daily wear. The movements of the wearer set the rotor in motion, which tensions the watch. The efficiency of these movements varies. They may not be sufficient to achieve the full power reserve of up to 62 hours. Wearers of automatic watches therefore use watch winders. These are boxes for watch storage, which move the watch and thus charge it. Another possibility is the manual winding by hand described below.

Manual winding

Since this is an automatic watch, manual winding is usually not necessary. However, due to the low mass of the rotor, the efficiency varies from movement habit to movement habit. For some movements, the charging by the rotor in conjunction with the reduction gear is always only slightly greater than the simultaneous momentum of the gear train. To enjoy the full power reserve, it is therefore recommended to wind the movement by hand. And this is how it works:

  1. It is a screw-in crown. Turn the crown counterclockwise with slight pressure to loosen it. It is now in the zero position.
  2. Turn the crown clockwise 12-14 times.
  3. You are already done. Tip: Now turn the watch to the back and enjoy the oscillating rotor and the gears visible through the sapphire crystal.

Using the chronograph

This chronograph can measure and display time in 1/4-second units, up to 59 minutes and 59 seconds.

[Measuring time with the stopwatch]

  1. Press button "A" to start the chronograph.
  2. Each press of button "A" will start or stop the chronograph.
  3. Press button "B" to reset the chronograph, and minute and second hands of the chronograph will return to their zero positions.
